"A super hero for the kids in the bottles..."

The one about dealing with sh*t

So it's the final push to The Rocky Horror Show - Live

We had a run through yesterday, and, as can be expected frustrations were running high and I sat back and watch the personalities unfold...

I always find it hilarious that when the pressure hits and teams have to try and find another gear, that so many people become caricatures of themselves. Like themslves, but more...burlesque, more....lampoon...

The moody ones get moodier and turn into Harry Enfield's teenage kid sketch. The high energy ones literally start bouncing off the walls and talking at indecipherable speeds. The vocal ones swear a lot more. The introverted quiet ones get withdrawn and into themselves (with actors they are very much in the minority!!)

I feel the pressure too. And at one point I would have burst into a whirlwind of frenzied activity without any real plan, skimming the surface of many of the things I wanted to get done without actually achieving anything. It's so important to sit back for two seconds, "see the wood for the trees" and understand exactly what it is that frustrates, pressures or makes your blood rise... It's so unbelieveably important to retain the reality of any situation and to think rationaly. Without "serenity now".

Tough to do? For sure.

I wish at moments like this, whether it be with the theatre group or even at work, that I could whip out some magic dust which would freeze everyone in the room (mid stress), just so they could look around and see a snapshot of their collective body language. To cut through the noise and see the hilarity of frustration and so called 'pressure' and to realise that it often takes a step back to take two forward.

We DO have a lot of work to do to get this show on the road. We also have 4 more days until opening night in Ottawa. That's 26 rehearsal hours. 1560 minutes. 93,600 seconds. And if every second counts, that's a lot of rehearsal seconds.

It's going to be an AWESOME show...

It always is.

Anyone coming?
