"A super hero for the kids in the bottles..."

The one for my friend.

I'm sorry you were laid off.

I know first hand how you feel, and want to offer you some words of advice, help and support.

I understand the sense of rejection, confusion and personal injustice.

In time this will pass and you'll come to see that, in fact, it was a good thing; that this door closing opened up other doors you had no idea existed.

You will become wiser and more understanding. You'll look back on this time with a wierd sense of fondness.

It was a challenge that you lived through and got through and became better for.

But it WILL be hard.

There will be more rejection to come.

There will be doors closed before you feel you've had a chance to fully represent yourself, or even open your mouth.

You will feel like a drain on those around you.

You will feel like a drain on yourself.

Because of this, you need to find the the things you love.

Make personal challenges.

Do something new and exciting.

Allow yourself to step out of the whirlpool and watch it from a different place while you do something completely different.

Allow youself to be upset.

Allow yourself to feel rejected.

Do not allow yourself to wallow in it for long. It's hard to get out of the drain once the drag takes hold.

Your friends WILL have time for you. Even if you don't.

Don't be afraid to ask for favours. Their time will come.

Do call in the favours that you did for a thousand ex-colleagues, ex-associates and ex-customers... they are the ones that know what you're capable of.

It's OK to do nothing somedays. When the world turns a little too fast. And you've run out of emotional and physical steam.

Get up the next day.

This is YOUR time. It's been given to you - not forced upon you.

The decisions on how you use it, or deal with it are very much up to you.

These are mny experiences of a similar time.

In hindsight it was a great time.

At the time it was the worst of times.

Try to keep perspective.

Here endeth the lesson.

I give it because I'm your friend.

And because I know you are in some pain.
